Jamie Carragher has suggested Manchester City have a ‘really good’ player who’s better than Harry Kane – and it’s not Erling Haaland.
Manchester City star Erling Haaland and Harry Kane stand alone in the top of the best striker in the world conversation.
When the two goal-snatchers were both in the Premier League last season, it was Haaland who finished out on top as he ended the campaign as top scorer with 36 and 52 in all competitions.
Kane wasn’t far behind as he netted 30 for Tottenham but now the England captain is actually leading the way.
Following his summer switch to Bayern Munich, Kane has been on fire in Germany and already has 37 goals to his name in all competitions, as well as 12 assists.
Haaland, meanwhile, has seen his campaign disrupted by a significant spell on the sidelines but he has still managed to score 29 and set up six.
With Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo leaving European football as their careers come to an end, no one comes close to Haaland and Kane’s numbers.
However, it’s not Haaland who Jamie Carragher thinks is better than Kane.

Jamie Carragher says one Man City player is better than Harry Kane
The international break is now at an end as City prepare for their massive top-of-the-table clash with Arsenal on Sunday.
But it’s not been an ideal fortnight for Pep Guardiola who has seen Kyle Walker, John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Matheus Nunes pick up knocks while away.
One player who came through unscathed, though, is Phil Foden.
Carragher was left very impressed by the forward’s performance against Belgium on Saturday and has now named him as one of England’s two best players alongside Jude Bellingham.
Seemingly rating Foden over Kane, Carragher said on The Overlap: “The results haven’t been great the last two games.
“But I actually watched that last night and I felt like that’s one of the best I’ve seen Foden play in an England shirt.
“And that I actually seen him as if he was playing for Man City. He gets the ball, he’s actually running at a defence.
“When you say about the movement in midfield it was interesting watching it last night, he almost played Foden as a No.10 with Bellingham and Chilwell’s job was basically to cover the whole left side.
“I thought that’s really good that. Going forward you can have that four in midfield, Declan Rice, Mainoo, Foden and Jude Bellingham.
“Foden has to play.
He kept interchanging, didn’t he?
“You’re talking about the two best players we’ve got, I’d say Bellingham and Foden, and they combined with each other and combination play.”
Has Phil Foden finally found his England role?
There has been plenty of clamour for Foden to play centrally for England given how well he’s played for City when given the chance there this season.
But the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo, who provides more defensive qualities, has likely just put an end to that notion.
But, as Carragher points out, Gareth Southgate might get the best of both worlds by starting Foden on the left and allowing him to drift inside.
This would allow Foden to influence the game in the middle and link up with Bellingham while ensuring the midfield isn’t too attack-heavy.
However, its success will depend on the quality of who is at left-back, as they would have a massive job on their hands in covering the whole flank.
Ben Chilwell did not impress in either friendly and Luke Shaw is a massive injury doubt.
The perfect solution may have a fatal flaw.
