In terms of the quickest players Manchester City have in their squad, Kyle Walker is usually the first name that comes to mind.
Back in May, Sam Allardyce said that he couldn’t believe how fast Walker is despite his advanced age compared to other players in the Premier League.
In fact, the 34-year-old registered the highest speed in the Premier League for the 2022/23 season, clocking a top speed of 37.31 km/h.
Now though, another figure in City’s ranks has been highlighted for his pace by another big name in the Premier League.
- Who is Jeremy Doku? Keep up to speed with Man City’s rapid winger

Jamie Vardy names Jeremy Doku as one of the fastest players in the world
Appearing in a recent video shared on the ESPN Brasil TikTok channel, Jamie Vardy was tasked with building his ultimate footballer by selecting certain players based on particular attributes such as left foot, right foot, heading, speed, intelligence, skills, leadership and celebration.
When asked to pick a player for their speed, Vardy chose Jeremy Doku.
Doku is a tough player to defend against
City signed the winger from Rennes back in the previous summer transfer window, paying £55m to do so.
In his debut season at the Etihad Stadium, the Belgian scored six goals and delivered 11 assists in 43 games across all competitions.
This isn’t the first time the attacker’s pace has been highlighted as a big part of his game, as Johan Bakayoko said that Doku is one of the fastest players in the world back in June.
The 22-year-old’s pace certainly makes him a dangerous figure to play against, especially with the ball at his feet.
In fact, Doku ended the previous Premier League campaign with more carries into the penalty area (147) than any other player in the division as well as having the second-highest total of successful take-ons (87).
Taking all of that on board, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see Vardy picked the City winger in this particular instance.
