Jan Aage Fjortoft has suggested that Erling Haaland will become a better player in his second season at Manchester City.

After securing a £51m deal for the striker back in the previous summer transfer window, the Citizens have seen the striker score 52 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions.

In fact, the 22-year-old won the FWA Footballer of the Year award by a record margin, with 82% of votes, beating Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.

With the centre-forward on the verge of potentially winning his first Premier League title, as well as having the FA Cup final and Champions League final to look forward to, one pundit has made a big claim regarding what Haaland’s next campaign could hold.

Speaking on ESPN FC, Fjortoft said this about Haaland and what next season could look like for him in Pep Guardiola’s side.

He said: “You see his link-up play is getting better, his heading ability is getting better.

“It’s all about his development and I can see him going into the next season, can he do over 50 goals again? Well I can never underestimate Erling Haaland, but I always know that he will turn into a better player next year because you can see slowly that the way that when he plays for Manchester City, when he plays for that coach when he plays with those teammates, he’s developing as a player.”

With a full season of working under Guardiola and getting used to his system and how he should be playing alongside his teammates, it’s understandable why Fjortoft thinks this campaign will be a big learning curve for Haaland and give him the platform to improve.
