Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo is reportedly of interest to fellow Premier League side Arsenal ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

The full-back left City during the previous January transfer window to join Bayern Munich on loan after falling out of favour with Pep Guardiola.

With the end of the season now in sight, a big update has emerged regarding the 28-year-old’s future.

Arsenal eyeing Cancelo transfer

According to a recent report from The Telegraph, Arsenal have their eyes on signing Cancelo this summer, although the Gunners are worried that the Manchester club will not do business with them so soon after selling Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer.

City signed the Portuguese international from Juventus back in the 2018 summer transfer window for a reported fee of £60m.

With 154 appearances for the Citizens to his name, Cancelo has scored nine goals, delivered 22 assists and won two Premier League titles.

Looking ahead to the upcoming summer transfer window, we feel that City and Guardiola need to come to a decision behind-the-scenes over what they want to see happen to the loaned out full-back, specifically in terms of whether the Spaniard wants him in the squad for next season or not.

If not, it may be the best option for all parties if City cash in on Cancelo should a suitable offer come their way for him.

With this report suggesting that the Manchester club would be reluctant to sell another one of their players to Arsenal, perhaps selling him to a foreign club could be a potential option.
