Joao Cancelo has now decided where he wants to go if Barcelona move collapses

Joao Cancelo has been moved out of Manchester City twice since the start of last year.

After joining Bayern Munich on loan in the 2023 January transfer window, the full-back spent the entirety of last season on loan with Barcelona.

Even though the Spanish club didn’t automatically secure a permanent deal for the Portuguese international at the end of his loan spell, they have still been mentioned with another possible move for the City player.

However, Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that the Spanish club’s main focus at the moment is to secure a deal for Nico Williams.

Now though, some behind-the-scenes details have now come to light regarding what Cancelo has in his mind in terms of a potential next step if a return to Barcelona doesn’t take place.

Joao Cancelo has Plan B option if Barcelona move doesn’t happen

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Cancelo would be open to making a move back to Italy if Barcelona end up not being able to financially facilitate another deal for the defender.

The report also adds that Inter Milan and Juventus, who Cancelo has played for previously, have been asking about the player’s situation.

City need a solution for Cancelo

During his time on loan at Barcelona, Cancelo appeared in 42 games across La Liga and the Champions League, chipping in with four goals and five assists.

Having racked up 62 combined appearances for Inter and Juventus earlier in his career, it’s understandable why the 30-year-old would be open to making a return to Italy this summer if the opportunity were to present itself as a Plan B option.

Moving forward, if Cancelo is once again not likely to be in Pep Guardiola’s plans for the upcoming season, City will have to find a solution that suits them and the player, whether it be loaning him out again or selling him on a permanent basis to a club that would be willing to offer a suitable fee.
