Lescott car tweet
Lescott had a controversial incident on Twitter in 2016 when he was playing for Aston Villa.
After being criticised for a poor display in a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool, which left Villa rooted at the bottom of the table, a photo of an expensive sports car was posted from his Twitter account.
It did not go down well with fans in the slightest.
Lescott never actually deleted the tweet but did apologise for the incident and claimed the picture was sent by accident from his pocket while he was driving.
Though many fans found his explanation hard to believe, former City teammate Micah Richards has explained he was there and it was actually the truth.
“We play Liverpool and we get absolutely spanked 6-0. I think I was at fault for about three of the goals,” he said on The Rest is Football podcast.
“That tweet, I was actually in the car when Joleon sent that tweet. The thing is, he is actually telling the truth.
“How he described it was something ridiculous – he’s sent it from his pocket and he didn’t know it went out.
“But if you remember Twitter back in the day, the last picture in your photos – if you went on Twitter and press a button that picture would be on.
“It must have been ready to send and he’s put it in his pocket and he’s accidentally sent the tweet.
“Joleon used to have a car company and he used to give us cars for good prices, like lease deals.
“In the picture was a S63 Coupe, all singing, all dancing and top of the range. It was offered to the lads. That’s the picture which went out.”

How did Joleon Lescott get his scar?
When he was just five years old, Lescott was struck by a car outside his primary school. Though he survived, he was left with severe injuries and scarring to his forehead and hairline.
Speaking to the Independent in 2006, Lescott opened up on the ordeal: “A lot of people have come off a lot worse than I did.
“I saw another little boy in hospital who came in without a scratch, but had suffered brain damage after being hit by a wing mirror. I have a scar but I have nothing to worry about.
“I had a major operation straight away and several more over the next few months but I was young and didn’t really know too much about what was going on.
“I know there was a time when my mum and dad didn’t think it would turn out as good as it has done, put it that way, but thankfully the doctors worked their magic.
“It was a harder time for my family more than it was for me to be honest, because I was only five years old and I didn’t know too much about it.
“I was in hospital for a few months and it was difficult for my mum, dad and the whole family but I think maybe it helped make us the tight unit we are today.
“We definitely appreciate each other more as a result of what happened and the accident has made me appreciate life a lot more and people with disabilities. I realise that I am one of the fortunate ones.”
