Joleon Lescott has hailed Kevin De Bruyne for the ‘ridiculously high level’ he shows on a regular basis for Manchester City.

De Bruyne returned to action last month and so far, he has put in several brilliant performances.

He is still working his way back, of course, and has mostly featured off the bench since coming back, but the level has been impressive considering how long he was out for.

On Saturday, City were struggling against Everton and De Bruyne came on and impacted the game in a big way, just as he did against Newcastle United.

He played in Erling Haaland for his second goal to seal the win, after the striker had lashed in a goal earlier on.

So far, De Bruyne has made six appearances for City since coming back, and his numbers are very impressive.

He’s scored one goal and made five assists already – and the 32-year-old has looked encouragingly sharp.

The maestro just looks completely refreshed, having played a lot of football prior to his hamstring issues, which actually started before the Champions League final against Inter.

Ahead of the game with Copenhagen, De Bruyne drew praise from former City defender Joleon Lescott, who told TNT Sports: “It’s a massive credit to him and the staff that have been working with him.

“When you are injured for a long period of time, the methods used in recovery are concerning game-related practices.

“That means the transition may be a little bit smoother. It doesn’t get away from the work that you have to do though.

“Should we be surprised? He’s a high-level player. What he does, he’s always done. Kevin doesn’t get better; he just maintains a ridiculously high level.”

Man City medical team deserve big credit

Lescott is right to point out the efforts of the medical team over De Bruyne’s comeback.

They have done a fantastic job getting the £55 million superstar back from a pretty serious injury, and the management of him so far has been really good.

He is clearly feeling really good right now and able to affect games in big ways, despite having missed so much football.

It certainly bodes well for City in these coming months. The challenge from Arsenal and Liverpool is strong and so, City are going to need their key men to deliver – having De Bruyne and also Erling Haaland back is a major boost in that sense.
