Jorge Mendes is now trying to get £60m player out of Manchester City

Joao Cancelo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is trying to work out a deal that would see the Manchester City defender join Barcelona on loan this summer.

After seeing the full-back spend the second half of last season on loan at Bayern Munich, it was claimed last month that he will be leaving the Manchester club again this summer.

With that in mind, some fresh behind-the-scenes details have come to the fore regarding one potential pathway being manufactured for the Portuguese international to leave the European champions.

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are considering a loan move for Cancelo, which is something that Mendes will look to make happen, although City are not currently interested in this particular move.

Having left the Manchester club in January, the right-back ended up missing out on helping the Citizens win the treble and being a part of their celebrations.

After Xavi claimed that City wouldn’t let Cancelo, who they paid £60m to sign back in 2019, join the Spanish club back in January, Pep Guardiola then said that the Barcelona manager was misinformed and that the La Liga side did not make an offer to sign the defender.

With the Manchester club presumably looking to get rid of the 28-year-old on a permanent basis this summer rather than on another loan deal, Mendes could have a tough task on his hands to either make a loan deal happen or help Barcelona potentially sign him permanently for a suitable transfer fee.

Moving forward, if a loan deal is not what the European champions are looking to sanction for their Portuguese outcast, it could be a case of whoever comes in with the best transfer offer will end up signing him.
