Journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed that Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo would want to return to the Etihad Stadium once his current loan spell ends.
The full-back joined Bayern Munich on loan until the end of the season during the previous January transfer window after apparently asking Pep Guardiola if he can leave due to the lack of minutes he was getting.
With his loan spell set to expire in the summer, one journalist has shared a claim regarding what the right-back could want to do for his next step.
Speaking on a recent edition of the Talking Transfers podcast, Bailey had this to say about Cancelo.
He said: “I think he’d quite like to be back at City at some point but I think with Rico Lewis as well, he’s really coming along leaps and bounds. He’s no Kyle Walker yet but I like to see City, although they’re spending all these millions, they’ve got youth products coming through as well. It’s the ideal scenario really.”
A big decision

Since joining the German club, the 28-year-old has made 16 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing five assists.
Looking ahead to the summer, if Cancelo is open to making a return to City and staying in the squad, he may have to come to terms with the fact that he may not be playing in every game.
If that doesn’t end up being the case, the club could well consider getting rid of him on a permanent basis and raising some cash that they can use elsewhere.
Either way, it would be safe to assume that the upcoming summer period will be a significant one for the player and his career.
