Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has reportedly been offered a big-money move to leave the Citizens this summer.

The centre-back has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer as a result of his lack of regular playing time last season.

Now though, with the treble-winners securing a transfer deal for Josko Gvardiol, a development has emerged regarding the possibility of the Spaniard departing the Manchester club this summer.

According to journalist Jose Manuel Monje, a Saudi Arabian club have offered Laporte a mega-money deal worth €20m-per-year (£17m-per-year) to leave City this summer.

The Manchester club signed the 29-year-old back in the 2018 January transfer window in a deal worth a reported fee of £57m.

Since then, Laporte has gone on to make 179 appearances for City across all competitions, scoring 12 goals and winning numerous trophies along the way including five Premier League titles.

Last season saw the defender start just 11 Premier League games for Pep Guardiola’s side, as well as not featuring in the Champions League final against Inter Milan or either of the semi-final clashes against Real Madrid.

Having also not been included in the starting XI for the FA Cup final against Manchester United, this shows that he is not at the top of Guardiola’s pecking order and makes it easy to see why he has been linked with a move away from the club.

With Riyad Mahrez making a £30m move to Al-Ahli last month after having been in a similar position to Laporte in terms of his place in the team, it’ll be interesting to see if the defender follows his former teammate to Saudi Arabia this summer.
