Manchester City are reportedly in talks to sign a player in the upcoming summer transfer window.

On the pitch, Pep Guardiola’s side are in the race to win a fourth Premier League title in a row and potentially another FA Cup.

However, it has now been claimed that the Manchester club have been making moves behind the scenes in regards to a potential summer transfer move.

In a recent post on his official X account, journalist Rudy Galetti had this to say on the matter.

He said: “Talks ongoing between Man City and West Ham for Lucas Paqueta: the clubs are discussing the amount of the possible move in the summer. The player is keen to join MCFC: no issue on personal terms.”

The Blues were linked with a move for the West Ham United star during the previous summer transfer window but didn’t secure a deal.

Back in the 2022 summer transfer window, the east London club signed the midfielder from Lyon in a deal worth £51m.

Since then, Paqueta has made 79 appearances for David Moyes’ side across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and delivering 14 assists along the way.

Lucas Paqueta could be a top signing for Man City

In 26 Premier League appearances this season, the Brazil international has made more passes into the penalty area (45) and goal-creating actions (15) than any other West Ham player.

He’s also racked up the second-highest total of successful tackles (43) and recoveries (170) in the Hammers squad.

The midfielder’s overall performances in this campaign have earned him a season rating of 7.16/10 from WhoScored, making him the second-highest-rated player at West Ham.

This shows that Paqueta, who Moyes previously described as a “special” player, is very effective on and off the ball, which, we feel, could make him a top signing for the Blues this summer.
