Former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has lavished praise on to the genius that is David Silva.

The Real Sociedad midfielder, who left the Sky Blues in 2020 after making 436 appearances is arguably the greatest player to play for the club.

Joe Hart, who shared a dressing room with David Silva for years honed in on what made him a truly special footballer.

Joe Hart waxes lyrical about David Silva

The World Cup winner, who joined City in 2010 etched his place in Premier League folklore as one of the best midfielders to ever grace the English game.

Silva’s balletic dribbling, unmatched eye for a pass, ability to control a game at an unseen degree and sumptuous technique made him a player that even opposition fans could not help but fall in love with.

Joe Hart, in an interview with Ben Foster on ‘Fozcast’ shared what made David Silva such a uniquely gifted footballer.

“Just an amazing little character, David Silva. Unbelievable footballer. I used to laugh every day…he’s not fast, he’s so one-footed it’s a joke, [he’s] weak but then again, no one can touch him. He didn’t head it, obviously, he was 5’3, he wasn’t particularly strong, about April, he’d start doing bicep curls in the summer.”

“No real power in his left foot either. But wow, what a player as well. And what a guy as well. Really good guy, fun guy.”

MCN View: The genius of David Silva should never be taken for granted

As Joe Hart said, David Silva was truly a one-of-one midfielder and due to his understated nature and lack of goals and assists season after season, it would be a cardinal sin to underrate him as time passes on.

While Silva’s actions in a game were not as prominent as say, De Bruyne, his impact on a match was as much, if not more.

The manner in which the 37-year-old ran the show for both club and country was a thing of beauty.

Despite all logic defying how such a feeble athlete could raise the top of the game, that is exactly what ‘Merlin’ did, as his football brain and technique was second to none.
