‘Just hope’… Paul Dickov has positive Jack Grealish theory after latest injury scare

Jack Grealish appears to have suffered yet another injury setback.

Manchester City are in FA Cup action on Tuesday afternoon and enjoyed a strong first-half display by storming into a three-goal lead.

Erling Haaland bagged them all to score yet another hat trick for City and, interestingly, they were all teed up by Kevin De Bruyne.

However, it won’t be a perfect night as in the 38th minute Jack Grealish was forced off the field with another injury.

The 28-year-old was clearly in distress while leaving the pitch and he pulled up a coat to cover his face when he sat back on the bench.

It’s not clear yet how serious the injury is and City great Paul Dickov is holding out hope he went off as a precaution.

Paul Dick’s Jack Grealish hope

Speaking on City’s Matchday Live show, Dickov said: “We don’t know what’s happened.

“We just hope Jack’s maybe felt a little bit of something and with the big games we’ve got coming up, he’s used his experience a little bit.

“Maybe I’m grasping at straws here but it’s a little bit of a precaution but obviously, it’s worrying when he’s just come back and he has to walk off the pitch.

“He looked visibly upset as well which usually isn’t a good sign.”

Awful timing for Jack Grealish and City

Luton did give City a scare by reducing the Blues’ lead to just a single goal shortly after the break but the relentless Haaland struck twice more to restore the advantage.

Yet, however many City score, the night could go down as a disappointment following the injury to Grealish.

City have massive fixtures against Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal all coming up over the next month and Pep Guardiola needs all his squad available.

Grealish especially is so useful in the biggest matches as he’s excellent at helping City control possession and dictate the tempo.

It’s now Grealish’s second injury in quick succession and, as Dickov says, it can only be hoped it’s just a knock rather than anything serious.
