Manchester City have confirmed the news many have been expecting – Sergio Aguero is leaving the club this summer.
Aguero’s contract expires this summer, and with no extension in the works over recent months, an exit seemed inevitable.
On Monday night, City announced the news, and Aguero will become a free agen this summer in what will be an emotional exit.
Aguero has become a City hero since his £38million move from Atletico Madrid in 2011, smashing 257 goals in 384 games for the club.
His most memorable is undoubtedly the title-winning goal against Queens Park Rangers in 2012, but City fans will all have many memories of the Argentinian.
City have lost key pillars like Vincent Kompany, Yaya Toure and David Silva in recent years, with Aguero’s departure the latest blow for supporters.
Players won’t take it easily either, and Kevin De Bruyne has taken to Twitter to post just five words – ‘A City legend for ever’.
The duo loved playing together at City and have formed a devastating duo over the years, and Aguero must now hope to play with a teammate even half as creative as De Bruyne at his next club.
