Kevin De Bruyne’s Man City career is coming to an end.

After 10 years, the Belgian will depart the Etihad Stadium this summer once his current contract expires, and over recent weeks, the midfielder has been reflecting on his career in Manchester.

The 33-year-old won it all with City and played with some unbelievable teammates, Sergio Aguero being one of them.

De Bruyne believes Erling Haaland will go on to achieve greater things than Aguero at Man City, based on what he has seen so far. Speaking about the Argentine once again, the Belgian has picked another player he thinks was better than City’s greatest ever goalscorer.

Kevin De Bruyne picks David Silva over Sergio Aguero

De Bruyne looks set to continue his career with Napoli, and it is fair to say the Belgian superstar will not have teammates in Italy like he did throughout his time at the Etihad.

When playing a game of Winner Stays On with Man City’s TikTok account, the 33-year-old had David Silva as the winner, ultimately choosing the Spaniard over Aguero.

Several top players were listed off, from Vincent Kompany to Raheem Sterling, but like many Man City fans, De Bruyne thinks Silva was the club’s best player over the last two decades, although many others would put the Belgian ahead of the former midfielder.

Micah Richards is one pundit who believes De Bruyne has been more impressive than Silva, but ultimately, there is not much between the two club legends.

How David Silva’s Man City career compares to Kevin De Bruyne

Just like De Bruyne, Silva spent 10 years at Man City between 2010 and 2020, and was one of the catalysts to the success the Manchester club has been enjoying over the last decade and a half.

The Spaniard made 436 appearances for City, which is slightly more than the 422 De Bruyne has racked up in a sky blue shirt.

There is not much between both players when it comes to the debate of the greatest player to ever put on a Man City shirt, as the midfield maestros were geniuses during their time at the Etihad Stadium.

Both had different play styles, and that may be the deciding factor for many fans, as some may prefer Silva’s ability to control a game, while others may favour the lethal aspect of De Bruyne in the final third.
