Kevin De Bruyne stole the show for Manchester City in their 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

Jen Beattie lauded De Bruyne, claiming he was given a “deserved standing ovation” after his masterful display by the home support at the Etihad Stadium.

De Bruyne provided an assist for Bernardo Silva’s goal that perhaps only he is capable of in the Manchester City side with a wonderful header that prompted the latter to merely stick his boot out.

The Manchester City maestro’s strike was one that emphasised just how productive he can be, picking up a smart position inside the box before rifling the ball into the back of the net.

All in all, the Belgian had yet another game to remember at the Etihad Stadium.

De Bruyne will be hoping that City’s latest win is the start of a run of games where they can stake a claim for winning the Premier League title for the fifth time in a row.

For now, the 33-year-old will be happy to have helped City return to winning ways.

Pep Guardiola’s men cannot afford to drop more needless points after having bounced back from their four-game running losing streak in the league.

After Manchester City defeated Nottingham Forest, De Bruyne sent a post-match message to the fans.

The decorated playmaker said via City’s official in-house media: “Hi, Kevin [De Bruyne] here. Just want to say thank you to all the fans who came on a rainy midweek day but appreciate it. Good result for the team and see you guys on Saturday at [Crystal] Palace.”

De Bruyne’s message will be appreciated by the supporters, who must already be head over heels about his masterful showing.

Micah Richards highlighted De Bruyne’s importance to this Manchester City side by stressing that apart from the injured Rodri, he was sorely being missed by his team as well.

Pep Guardiola hailed De Bruyne ahead of the contest and rubbished any potential rift between himself and City’s vice-captain.

De Bruyne hails Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku

De Bruyne praised Jack Grealish as well as Jeremy Doku for their respective performances against Nottingham Forest as well.

The six-time Premier League winner said: “I made a couple of mistakes in the first half but I think Jack [Grealish] did a really good job at carrying the ball and control it a bit.”

“Then you have Jeremy [Doku] who’s a very different type of player, he’s very electric. So you have a little bit of a mix today. I think we did well under the circumstances.”

It seems like De Bruyne’s return to Manchester City’s starting line-up boosted the likes of Grealish and Doku’s confidence.

Such is the sense of assuredness that a player of his ilk can add to even one of the best teams in the world.
