Kyle Walker fortunes could start nagging Harry Kane, amid Manchester City links

Manchester City scooped a fourth straight Carabao Cup yesterday, making light work of opponents Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

The scoreline was only 1-0 in the end, but it was comfortable for City and Spurs rarely troubled Pep Guardiola’s side.

The afternoon would have been particularly sweet for Kyle Walker who, of course, left Tottenham back in 2017 to join City for a reported £50 million (BBC Sport).

People had a lot to say about the transfer, but few can argue against Walker being good value at this point, and yesterday’s victory means he’s now won nine trophies with the club.

That’s huge vindication for the 55-cap England international, who is very much at the top of his game amid all this winning of silverware.

One wonders if some of his former teammates were looking on at him with envy yesterday.

One would imagine Harry Kane definitely was, as the speculation about his future continues.

Kane is now at the age Walker was when the full-back left Spurs having not won a trophy there.

Kane to agitate for Manchester City?

City are reported to like Kane (MEN), but he would obviously be extremely expensive to sign given he has a contract until 2024.

It probably isn’t likely, but one wonders if Kane himself will actually agitate for a move to the Etihad this summer.

He would likely love a slice of the success Walker has had since leaving north London, and he would undoubedly flourish in a team that plays unbelievable football and creates an abundance of chances.
