Kyle Walker makes intriguing Pep Guardiola claim ahead of Man City’s game with Liverpool

Manchester City are playing against Liverpool this weekend, and it’s safe to say fans are concerned about the game.

Manchester City are six games without a win, and just threw away a three-goal lead against Feyenoord in the Champions League to draw 3-3.

Pep Guardiola said after that game that Man City are ‘not stable’ at the moment, and the loss of Rodri is proving to be very problematic.

It’s Liverpool at Anfield next for City, which is a tough fixture in any case.

But the Reds are flying right now and are eight points clear at the top of the Premier League, and have just beaten Real Madrid in the Champions League.

On paper, it’s a massive game – but Kyle Walker dismisses the idea that Pep Guardiola treats it differently to any other game.

There is no denying how big Sunday’s game with Liverpool is.

With the Reds eight points clear, there is no room for slip-ups. Liverpool winning and opening up an 11-point lead would potentially give City way too much to do to win a fifth straight league title.

Despite the size of this fixture though, Kyle Walker claims the Manchester City manager doesn’t really give it any preferential treatment.

He said on the You’ll Never Beat Kyle Walker podcast: “Listen, I will say this now and I’m not lying, Pep prepares for every game the same.”

“But the lads, the emotion that’s running throughout, it’s bigger. You can feel it, you know, it’s a must-win game, you know, take points off of the people that are going to be fighting at the top with us. You know, you need to be taking points off of these teams and hopefully we can do that.”

Man City must not lose to Liverpool

Fans are rightfully very worried about this upcoming game with Liverpool given the contrasting form of the two clubs right now.

But City simply mustn’t lose, purely because of the psychological blow that would deal if it happened.

A draw would still be far from ideal, but many fans would probably take it given how both teams are looking right now.

A win for City would be absolutely huge, albeit it feels very unlikely at this moment in time.

Hopefully, Matheus Nunes will be deployed in midfield for Man City, and it would also be brilliant if Pep Guardiola started Kevin De Bruyne at Anfield.
