Manchester City were dealt a demoralising blow on Saturday evening in their first Premier League match since the November international break came to an end.
After getting knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Tottenham Hotspur last month, City then lost their following three matches leading up to the final international period of 2024.
Unfortunately, that break did not seem to be particularly beneficial for Pep Guardiola’s side, as they were beaten 4-0 by Spurs at the Etihad Stadium.
Two first-half goals from James Maddison and a goal each from Pedro Porro and Brennan Johnson in the second period saw Ange Postecoglou’s side register their second victory over the Citizens this season.
Having now fallen to five consecutive defeats across all competitions, a key figure in City’s squad has opened up about the team’s next steps and their upcoming fixtures.

Kyle Walker aims for City bounce-back in upcoming fixtures
When asked about City’s disappointing run of form in his post-Spurs interview with Sky Sports (via Man City), Kyle Walker gave this assessment on how his side can get back to winning ways.
He said: “The best way to turn this round is on Tuesday [vs Feyenoord]. Hopefully, the mojo comes back and we see the normal City from the past eight seasons.”
When asked about Sunday’s next Premier League match against Liverpool at Anfield, Walker gave this early assessment.
He said: “It’s a great game to turn it around and take three points from the team who sit above you. But we can’t put in a performance like that or we’ll get walked over.
“We have a Champions League game to prepare for that massive game on Sunday and keep within touching distance of Liverpool.”
City need to get back on track as soon as possible
As the 34-year-old mentioned, City will be back in action at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night for their latest Champions League match against Feyenoord.

After that, as Walker also mentioned, City’s next Premier League outing sees them take on Liverpool at Anfield for a top-of-the-table clash next weekend.

Unfortunately for the City captain, Gary Neville said Walker has been “struggling” this season after the right-back was outpaced by Timo Werner in the build-up to Tottenham’s fourth goal of Saturday’s match.
So while he and the rest of his teammates will undoubtedly be aiming to get a win against Feyenoord on Tuesday to put them in a good position to take on Liverpool, there are some issues that need to be addressed on the training ground sooner rather than later.
