Kyle Walker says player who left Man City in 2020 was better than Kevin De Bruyne

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has played with a wide range of players throughout his extensive career.

At the age of 34, the right-back has made 613 senior club appearances in total, 302 of which have come with Pep Guardiola’s side.

Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium back in 2017, the Englishman has shared the pitch with many top players.

One of those players is Kevin De Bruyne, who has scored 103 goals and delivered 171 assists in 386 games across all competitions for City.

Despite that, Walker has named another figure he’s played with at the Manchester club he thinks was actually better than De Bruyne.

Kyle Walker names David Silva as the best he’s played with at Man City

When asked in a recent episode of You’ll Never Beat Kyle Walker who the best player he’s ever played with is, the City captain said this in response.

He said: “I always, I say now if people say [who is the] best player at City that you’ve played with, it’s David [Silva, I think.

“I think he just pips Kevin. I think Kun [Aguero] was incredible.

“It’s just that he did things that, you could pass him a ball and it’d be a bad ball, but he’d make it look a good ball.

“He wasn’t the quickest, but how he could turn, his manipulation of his body.

“And I think with him and Leroy [Sane], on that side of my first couple of years, they just complimented each other so, so well.

“He learned Leroy’s game probably before Leroy knew his game and he just knew when Leroy wanted the ball, when he did want the ball, how he wanted the ball.

“And I think for me, David, for that, just for as a team, he knew what the team needed.”

Silva is one of City’s best players ever

During his decade at the club between 2010 and 2020, Silva scored 77 goals, provided 130 assists and won multiple domestic trophies across 436 appearances for City.

Walker isn’t the first City player to discuss the two midfielders recently, as Phil Foden was asked to pick between Silva and De Bruyne, ultimately choosing the Spaniard as the better player.

Now that the right-back, who played in 103 games with Silva at the Manchester club, has claimed that the 38-year-old is the best he’s ever played with, this should strengthen the former midfielder’s status as one of the best players City have ever had.
