Sami Mokbel has now shared what he thinks will happen regarding Kalvin Phillips at Manchester City this month.

The Chief Football Reporter for the Daily Mail shared his views when speaking to Last Word On Spurs.

So, what was said about Kalvin Phillips? Let’s take a look…

Kalvin Phillips update

Well, the matter arose due to the fact Tottenham have been mentioned as a potential destination for the England international this month.

Now – however – Mokbel has claimed that he sees Phillips ending up at a smaller side in the Premier League, if an exit does materialise for the Yorkshireman in January.

The Daily Mail journalist said: “What I think will happen eventually with Kalvin Phillips is that the big clubs – like Tottenham – who have looked at it, thought about it and maybe thought, no, probably not for us, they will then move on and a lower level of club will maybe look to do (a deal for) Kalvin Phillips later on in the window, if they can do it at a lower price.”

These comments suggest Crystal Palace might be one Premier League side who eventually get involved in the race to sign the 28-year-old this month.

A story from The Athletic claims Roy Hodgson’s side are keen to do a deal for the Manchester City No.4 if the opportunity arises.

Manchester City risk upsetting Kalvin Phillips

As things stand, sources tell ESPN that Phillips is continuing to work hard in training despite wanting to leave – he has one eye on making Gareth Southgate’s England squad for UEFA EURO 2024 this summer.

However, this exemplary behaviour may not last forever should Pep Guardiola continue to overlook him.

If Manchester City keep hold of Phillips this month and his situation in regards to playing time remains unchanged, he could miss out on UEFA EURO 2O24, which runs the risk of putting a real dent in his morale.

Regardless of whether Phillips stays or goes in the summer, that would not be fair on the Leeds-born midfielder.

The £130,000-a-week man’s fantastic attitude, despite making just two Premier League starts since arriving from Elland Road in July 2022, should see his wish to leave this month granted.
