Manchester City are very interested in signing Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves this summer.

Pep Guardiola is keen to add a left-back to his squad this summer as the Man City boss doesn’t plan to use Nico O’Reilly in the role next season, while a right-back is also on the agenda as the Premier League giants look to replace Kyle Walker.

Ait-Nouri has emerged as the Manchester club’s top target for the role, with everyone associated with the deal expecting it to happen before the 2025/26 campaign gets underway in August.

A new update has now emerged on the 23-year-old’s potential move to the Etihad Stadium, revealing how close the defender is to joining Man City.

Man City are yet to submit an offer for Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri

Ait-Nouri has already said yes to a move to Man City, with Wolves already informed of the left-back’s wish to move to Manchester this summer.

Ben Jacobs reports that the Midlands club have yet to receive a formal offer from City for the transfer of Ait-Nouri; however, the Manchester club plan to make progress on the deal soon.

“As of Monday night, Wolves yet to receive a formal bid from Man City,” Jacobs reported on his X account.

“However, a deal could progress quickly now with Manchester City keen to make progress before the Club World Cup.”

Man City are keen to get most of their business done before their Club World Cup campaign kicks off against Wydad AC on June 18, with the Premier League side hoping to have both of their top midfield targets as part of their squad by then.

A deal for Tijjani Reijnders is very close to getting over the line; however, the transfer fee remains an issue in Man City’s pursuit of Rayan Cherki.

Lyon not moving on Rayan Cherki asking price

Ben Jacobs has also provided an update on Man City’s interest in Cherki as the French star is the Premier League club’s current top target to replace Kevin De Bruyne at the Etihad Stadium.

The transfer expert has stated that Lyon want over €30m (£25m) for the midfielder this summer and will not move away from that asking price as they are not looking to do any club a favour.

Talks will continue between both clubs to try and come to an agreement on a transfer fee, with Cherki said to be confident that a deal will get done.

Cherki has already said yes to Man City, as it has become clear that the midfielder wants the Manchester club to be the place where the next chapter of his career is written.

With the transfer fee being so low, it shouldn’t be an issue for Man City to match what Lyon are asking for, but you never know what might happen with several other clubs interested in the 21-year-old.
