‘Laughable’: Pundit genuinely can’t believe what’s been reported about ‘ruthless’ Man City man now

Danny Mills has ruled out any chances of Pep Guardiola leaving Manchester City to take over the England job.

As shared by Football Daily, the pundit gave his two cents after it was reported on Tuesday that the FA considered the Catalan boss as their ‘dream appointment’ if Gareth Southgate left his post after Euro 2024.

But Danny Mills believes it is impossible that Pep Guardiola is even open to the idea of managing England.

Danny Mills says Pep Guardiola will not become England manager ‘in a million years’

Branded as ‘ruthless’ by the i Newspaper, the Spaniard is understandably the FA’s ideal replacement for Gareth Southgate, being the fifth most decorated manager of all time.

To add to that, Guardiola is also currently widely viewed as the standout manager in world football as he continues to operate in the peak of his powers.

However, Danny Mills believes England have no chance of landing Pep Guardiola anytime soon.

“I think Pep Guardiola taking over is laughable. I don’t think that’s going to happen in a million years. When you take a look at the likes of Jack Grealish, it took nearly a year for him to understand how Pep works, understand the intensity, the methods that he imparts to how they want to train, how they want to play. And that’s pretty much 365 days plus a year that he gets them.”

Danny Mills emphasised on area of the England job and international football in general that may not appeal to Pep Guardiola.

“As the England coach, he might get 15-20 training sessions with these players. It’s very, very difficult. He’s not going to take that job. So, the FA can want to speak to him or they might even speak to him, Pep Guardiola’s not taking the England job.”

Unlikely that Pep Guardiola leaves Manchester City in 2024 in any case

Even if Danny Mills is proven wrong and Pep Guardiola is indeed tempted by the prospect of managing the Three Lions, his contract runs out at the Etihad Stadium in 2025.

Knowing how tight-knit his relationship is with the higher-ups at Manchester City, the two-time treble-winner is unlikely not to honour his ongoing deal.

As a result, the FA should target mission Guardiola after his time at City comes to an end.
