A lot of Manchester City’s players are very familiar when it comes to representing their countries on the international stage.
For example, City had more players (14) from their squad picked to feature in the 2024 European Championship than any other team in the Premier League.
More recently, a significant number of City players were in action for their countries in last month’s round of Nations League matches.
With another international break on the way later this month, more names from Pep Guardiola’s ranks are likely to be featuring for their countries again.
In fact, one particular City player has recently been spoken about by his current international head coach ahead of the upcoming Nations League fixtures.

Lee Carsley drops Kyle Walker verdict after recent England call-up
After not including Kyle Walker in his first England squad for last month’s Nations League matches, Lee Carsley had this to say in a recent press conference (via BBC Sport) about the full-back after picking him for the Three Lions’ upcoming games against Greece and Finland.
He said: “We spoke before the last squad announcement, when he literally hadn’t played a minute for Manchester City. He’s a player we’re looking forward to having back.
“I’ve never worked with him but I think what he’s done in the past for England, he’s a player that I’m sure can help our younger players as well.”
How did Walker react to being left out of the last England squad?
Throughout his playing career, Walker has made 90 senior appearances for the Three Lions, featuring for four England managers along the way.
When asked about not being included in the last squad, Walker said that he was disappointed by Carsley’s decision and would then look to prove England’s interim manager wrong with his following performances.
For City, the 34-year-old has appeared in six matches across all competitions, starting four of them.
Now that Carsley has not only picked Walker to be in the England squad for their upcoming games but also highlighted how his experience could help some of the younger members of the squad, this shows how much he recognises what the full-back can still offer.
