A report has made a fresh revelation about one Manchester City target who has taken Euro 2024 by storm.

Amongst the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’, only Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have made signings so far.

Enzo Maresca’s side have signed the likes of Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu, Estevao Willian and Tosin Adarabioyo.

Tottenham also signed midfield wonderkid Archie Gray from Leeds United.

Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked with several players but so far, none of their transfers have been made official.

Liverpool hand Man City Dani Olmo advantage in transfer pursuit

On Friday, it was revealed that in the event that Kevin De Bruyne leaves City as he continues to get linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, Dani Olmo has been earmarked as his replacement by Pep Guardiola.

The Spanish international had an injury-raved season for RB Leipzig — where he started just 17 games in the Bundesliga.

But at the European Championship, the 26-year-old has returned to his brilliant best as he is fit and firing.

According to a report by the Mirror, Liverpool seem unlikely to make a move for Manchester City-linked forward Olmo.

It has also been claimed that while Chelsea held “positive talks” to sign the joint-top goalscorer at Euro 2024, they do not intend to sign him.

The report states that clubs in the Premier League and La Liga are considering taking a punt and triggering the £50.6 million release clause to sign Olmo before it expires on Monday.

Man City should be rejoicing that Liverpool are not in Dani Olmo race

Unlike at Manchester City, where Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden being world-class attacking midfielders means the number 10 position is not a priority for them, the same cannot be said for Liverpool.

Alexis Mac Allister is the only player capable of playing behind the striker at Anfield and with how important he is to the Reds as a number eight, Olmo would perhaps be the perfect signing for them.

The draw of joining Liverpool and being one of the faces of Arne Slot’s project would be an attractive proposition for several players in the world.

However, if the Merseyside-based club, alongside Chelsea are uninterested in signing the versatile attacker — who is also a brilliant false nine — City have quite a clear run at trying to secure his services.

Whether the Sky Blues indeed go ahead with the deal now that Liverpool seemingly are out of the picture will be interesting to see unfold.
