Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha looks like one of England’s most prodigious young talents.
However, Manchester City can pride themselves on the fact that they too have several incredible youngsters at their disposal.
One of them is Claudio Echeverri, who Pep Guardiola called “incredible” as the 19-year-old is one of South America’s brightest young prospects.
Manchester City rate Vitor Reis very highly, another young prospect who has already shown glimpses of his wondrous talent in the few appearances he has made for Guardiola’s side.
Rio Ngumoha reveals Raheem Sterling has been giving him key advice
Several current and former City players have had exceptional careers, which gives them the chance to mentor such young players. Sergio Aguero, who named Phil Foden his “favourite player” looked out for him when the pair played in tandem at City.
Raheem Sterling is another ex-Sky Blues player who is known to guide youngsters.
Dire Mebude admitted Sterling gave him tips and now, Ngumoha has said the same while speaking to Liverpool’s official YouTube channel, saying: “I remember one time, [Sterling] pulled me to the side and told me ‘When you lose the ball, make sure you stay in the game’. Because at the top level, everything happens so fast so you have to be on it to do your thing.”
“It made me feel like I can do what he has done. He is telling me that he can see what I am good at, from someone like Raheem, I was like, wow.”
Raheem Sterling mentored a current Man City superstar
Considering how much Sterling has accomplished in football, Ngumoha would have been touched by the Chelsea wideman’s effort to help him improve as a player.
Manchester Evening News claimed Sterling mentored Foden as well, who named him as a role-model in 2019, saying: “Definitely, he is a role model – he helps me out a lot and I am just really happy for him.”

The Stockport-born midfielder added: “He helps in the game and in training and overall, helping me with my game, giving me tips and that is what a young lad needs coming through.”
Sterling was a leader by example on the pitch during his time at Manchester City and seemingly off it as well. Considering the four-time Premier League winner burst on to the scene for Liverpool as a teenager himself, his advice must have resonated with several wonderkids over the years.
