“Look for another position”… BBC Sport pundit now tells 28-year-old to reinvent himself at Manchester City

Pat Nevin has now told Jack Grealish to find a new position at Manchester City after the emergence of Jeremy Doku.

The 60-year-old made the comments when speaking on BBC Sport.

So, what was said about Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Belgian is the talk of Manchester right now after his remarkable performance against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Doku scored one and assisted another four goals as Manchester City recorded a 6-1 win at the Etihad Stadium.

The 21-year-old actually set a new record in doing so, becoming the youngest footballer in Premier League history to provide five goal involvements in a single game.

When praising Doku, Nevin admitted that he thinks Grealish now needs to reinvent himself at Manchester City, as his place on the left wing is under severe threat.

The Glaswegian said: “Manchester City paid £55m for him but they paid double that for Jack Grealish two short years ago. Only 11 games into the season, Doku is not only ahead in the battle for that left wing berth, he is so far ahead that it looks like Grealish should jack it in and look for another position at the club.”

There is certainly a debate to be had.

Guardiola should move Grealish centrally if Doku continues to shine at Manchester City

If Doku continues to deliver electric performances from the left, and Bernardo Silva also continues to provide magic from the right, then Guardiola should consider moving Grealish into the middle.

The England international – who some believe is being deliberately provoked by Guardiola – has the vision and dribbling skills to be an effective presence in a No.10 role.

Grealish can also thread incisive passes through deep opposition backlines, so at least while Kevin De Bruyne is still in the treatment room, Guardiola should trial this positional change.

Whatever happens, the 28-year-old is undoubtedly sweating over his place after watching Doku’s brilliance on Saturday.
