Manchester City made it four wins from four yesterday in the Premier League – and Ian Wright lavished praise on the strike partnership of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.
City beat Fulham 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium, with Haaland stealing headlines once again after scoring another hat-trick.
Alvarez also got on the scoresheet. As did Nathan Ake, whose header just before half-time cause controversy.
That was because Manuel Akanji was stood in an offside position as the ball came through from Ake and into the back of the net.
Fulham had real reason to feel hard done by, to be fair.
But City deserved the win – and Wright focused on the blossoming partnership of Haaland and Alvarez on Match of the Day…

Ian Wright impressed with Haaland and Alvarez link up for Manchester City
City may be physically missing Kevin De Bruyne at the moment, but the team is not ‘missing’ him just yet.
City created a plethora of chances yesterday against Fulham.

And Alvarez was lively once again playing in and around Haaland.
And the pair impressed Wright, who said on Match of the Day: “It looks very good. They seem to be really close to each other. They’re starting to understand everything that’s going on. I’m not sure if Haaland was shooting for goal here, but look at Alvarez, he’s going in there… bam. That’s just a striker. He’s just following his nose straight in there.
“This again (Haaland second goal, Alvarez assist), this is beautiful play from him (Alvarez). Gets a bit of luck there, but then once he (Haaland) gets into this situation there’s only one outcome. Brilliant.
“Look at this run from Alvarez this is super (for the penalty award) fantastic. Haaland goes short, Alvarez goes long. Good stuff, old one-two striker play…”
Haaland and Alvarez is starting to look scary
Yesterday was perhaps the best Haaland and Alvarez have ever looked together.
It is fantastic to see them really hitting it off.
Obviously Haaland is a goal machine so he will play pretty much every game for City.

But it’s brilliant to see £14 million signing Alvarez staking such a strong claim to be a regular starter.
His partnership with Haaland is going from strength to strength, and who knows what kind of havoc they could wreak on teams in the future.
