Peter Crouch has suggested that Harry Kane could have scored as many goals as Erling Haaland did for Manchester City last season if he had joined the club.
After being linked with a transfer move for the England striker back in the 2021 summer transfer window, the Citizens were unable to land a deal for him and instead signed Haaland a year later.
Having then gone on to see the Norwegian score 36 goals in his debut Premier League campaign last season, one pundit and former top-flight striker has had his say on what could have been the case had Kane made a move to the Etihad Stadium instead of Haaland.
Crouch says Kane could have been as good as Haaland for City

Speaking in a recent Q&A video shared on the TNT Sports YouTube channel, Crouch had this to say in response to a social media who claimed that if City had signed Kane, he would have scored more goals than Haaland did last season.
He said: “Such a difficult one to say. I think Kane would have got more goals than 30 but what Haaland did shouldn’t be sniffed at. I mean that was something special but Kane in that team, I’d love to see it.”
During his time at Tottenham Hotspur, the 30-year-old scored 278 goals in 430 appearances across all competitions before joining Bayern Munich back in August, where he has since gone on to score nine goals and deliver five assists in 10 matches.

Since Haaland joined City, he has found the net 60 times in 65 games, with 36 of those goals coming in the 35 Premier League games he played in last season.
With that in mind, it’s easy to see why Crouch thinks that someone with such goalscoring ability like Kane could have been as proficient in front of goal for City as Haaland has been if he ended up joining the club when he had the chance.
