As Manchester City continue to get linked with a move for Eberechi Eze, Rio Ferdinand lavished praise on to him in April this year.

It was reported on Wednesday that Pep Guardiola’s men were keen on the Englishman’s signature, who Crystal Palace would only sell for a fee in excess of £70 million.

With Manchester City supporters debating whether Eberechi Eze is the real deal, Rio Ferdinand certainly thinks so, as he said a couple of month ago on his show, ‘Vibe With Five’.

What Rio Ferdinand once said about Manchester City target Eberechi Eze

As Kevin De Bruyne finds himself on the treatment table for the next couple of months, the Sky Blues’ sole creator in midfield remains Phil Foden.

While the ‘Stockport Iniesta’ proved against a side of Newcastle’s calibre that he is capable of becoming a world-class midfielder, the creative burden on him is far too much.

With that in mind, it seems like Manchester City have set their sights on signing Eberechi Eze, who Rio Ferdinand once showered with praise.

“Smooth. If you’re talking about one of the smoothest ballers in the game, in the Premier League right now, Eze’s up there”, he said.

Rio Ferdinand continue to laud the now-Manchester City target, saying, “Mad player. He’s playing like he’s in the cage. Just smooth, man. He doesn’t seem fazed either. Every situation you put him in, he’s just calm. And he’s in that position where he turns and faces up midfielders or defenders. He can go past people, slip people in and finish.”

‘I just want to see him get more goals and assists. He’s started to add some goals recently and hopefully he can continue in that vein. ‘He’d be good at Arsenal, you know. In the [Granit] Xhaka position. In another year.”

Well, Arsenal have since signed Kai Havertz in that role, as Manchester City have seemingly listened to Rio Ferdinand and made a move for the Crystal Palace talisman.
