‘Made me chuckle’… Gary Neville now reacts to what Pep Guardiola said about him

Gary Neville has reacted to the fact that Pep Guardiola mentioned that he has not won four Premier League titles in a row.

The popular pundit took to TikTok to respond after the Manchester City boss’ comments in his latest press conference (via Hayters TV) went viral.

What Pep Guardiola said about Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards

As Gary Neville claimed that he was witnessing signs of “complacency” from Manchester City after their 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, Pep Guardiola emphasised how much of a challenge it is to win four Premier League titles on the trot.

“He knows how difficult it is. Otherwise, Gary Neville would’ve won four [consecutive] Premier Leagues in the best period of Manchester United. But he didn’t do it, you know?”, Pep Guardiola said about Gary Neville via Hayters TV.

Guardiola continued, “Jamie Carragher didn’t win one once. Micah Richards didn’t win four Premier Leagues in a row. Never, ever. It’s never happened. There is more chance of it not happening than happening. Just one treble before us. It’s so difficult to do it again and again. We don’t have what others have, who haven’t done it for many, many years.”

“I see my team, how they fight, how they press, how they continue until the end and how upset they are after we concede. So, I don’t have that feeling [of complacency]. Maybe, maybe I’m wrong and they are seeing everything that I’m not able to see. But I don’t have that feeling.”

How Gary Neville responded to the Manchester City boss’ comments

Jamie Carragher certainly looked like he took the comments to heart, firing back in a tweet that read, “I think I’d have probably won one if Liverpool were owned by a nation-state, and pushed the rules so far that the Premier League charged us 115 times! I was actually praising Pep’s team after the game on Sunday.”

However, Gary Neville certainly saw the funny side of things, responding to Pep Guardiola saying, “But we’ll start [on the next episode of The Overlap’s show, Stick To Football], I’m sure with the fact that the old master, Pep [Guardiola] has had a go at me and Carra [Jamie Carragher]. Me, at not winning four [Premier League titles] in a row. Sorry, Pep. Apologies for that. And for my friend, James from Liverpool for not participating in the Premier League title celebrations at all during his career, which did make me chuckle slightly.”

“Carragher had to go back at Pep, didn’t he? He can’t rise above it and see it as a compliment, and he says to Pep that, ‘If I’d been owned by a nation-state or had 115 charges against me and pushed the rules, I’d have probably won a Premier League title.”

“Carra, I reckon you’d have won a Premier League title, mate if you hadn’t kept kicking the ball in the back of your own net. That would’ve been a massive help to your team”, he said on TikTok.

Ultimately, Manchester City fans will likely also appreciate the response from Gary Neville instead of Jamie Carragher, who came across as seemingly furious at the comments from Pep Guardiola.
