Pundit Jermaine Beckford has said that signing Jeremy Doku has been a great piece of business from Manchester City.

The winger was one of the four players the Manchester club signed during the previous summer transfer window.

With the 21-year-old now in the midst of his first season at the Etihad Stadium, one pundit and former Premier League player has shared his verdict on what the City attacker has shown so far this season.

Speaking in a recent edition of Team Talks by Premier League Productions (via Optus Sport), Beckford had this to say about Doku and what he’s done since joining City.

He said: “He is amazing. He’s so dynamic, when he picks the ball up he’s so direct as well, he’s got really quick feet, great change of direction, low centre of gravity.

“When he picks the ball up, he’s thinking one thing, it’s one-on-one, can I get past my defender, if I can’t, who am I going to pass it to? It’s that half a yard that he’s able to create space for himself that makes all the difference. Absolute stunning acquisition, amazing.”

City signed the Belgian from Rennes in a deal worth £55m and have since gone on to see him make 16 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing six assists along the way.

With 10 Premier League appearances under his belt, Doku has racked up more successful take-ons (43) and carries into the penalty area (51) than any other player in the division.

As well as that, the winger has the second-highest rate of shot-creating actions per 90 minutes (5.59) and second-highest rate of goal-creating actions per 90 minutes (0.98) in the league.

This shows just how much of a dangerous and creative attacking figure he is and what he offers Pep Guardiola’s side.

His overall league performances have earned the summer recruit a strong rating of 7.71/10 from WhoScored, making him the highest-rated player at City.

Taking all of that into account, it’s hard to argue with Beckford about how much of a top signing Doku has been for the Citizens so far.
