Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has said that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has made him a better coach.

This weekend will see the Premier League champions take on the Reds at the Etihad Stadium for the first meeting between the two sides in this campaign.

Not only does this fixture see the top two teams in the country currently face off against each other, but it also sees the two of the longest-serving Premier League managers battle it out against each other once again.

Looking ahead to this big game, Guardiola has shared his thoughts about Klopp and what sort of impact his rivalry has had on the Spaniard.

Speaking in his latest press conference ahead of the upcoming clash against Liverpool, Guardiola had this to say about Klopp.

He said: He makes me a better manager through his teams. The transitions, the space they make in behind, [Darwin] Nunez, [Mohamed] Salah. They have a fantastic team, no doubt.”

Across his managerial career, Guardiola has faced off against Klopp 28 times in total, more than any other manager he has come up against.

Out of those 28 games, the 52-year-old has won 11, drawn five and lost 12, which highlights the close rivalry that these two managers have had for such a significant period of time.

Klopp has also praised Guardiola in the past and even described him as the best manager in the world back in April last year, a title which has since been strengthened after the Spaniard saw his side win the treble at the end of last season.

Moving forward, if the home side can get back to winning ways after only picking up a point in their previous league game against Chelsea earlier this month, this will surely be a great result for them given how impressive Liverpool have been in this campaign so far.
