Manchester City have reportedly accepted an offer from Al Nassr for defender Aymeric Laporte.
The Spaniard has long been linked with an exit from the club.
Laporte was a regular on the City bench last term, playing second fiddle to the likes of Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias.
The expectation has been that he will move on in this window.
But it has been fairly quiet on Laporte.
That is a surprise given how good a player he is, despite him not playing much in the last year.
But it looks as though there could now be movement on his exit.
Man City accept offer from Al Nassr for Aymeric Laporte
It is being reported this morning by The Athletic that City have now accepted an offer from Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr for Laporte.
It is stated that the 29-year-old is open to a move.
Currently, there is no word about how much exactly Al Nassr have offered.
But Laporte – who is said to be ‘appreciated’ by Arsenal – has two years left on his contract at the Etihad.
So it will not have been an astronomical bid.
Aymeric Laporte leaving Man City will be a shame, but understandable
It would be a great shame to see a player like Laporte leave.
He is still an amazing centre-half, and one of the best ball-playing defenders in the world. He is described as ‘elite’ by Breaking the Lines, and few would disagree with that.
But at the same, time it is completely understandable.
A player like him could start for many other clubs.
But seemingly, the £120,000-a-week player is set to follow Riyad Mahrez to Saudi, he just now needs to decide if the move is for him.
It will certainly be very interesting to see how much Al Nassr’s offer is worth.
