Journalist: Man City now set to offer Julian Alvarez a new contract in the 'coming weeks'

Journalist Veronica Brunati has claimed that Man City have their set sights set on offering Julian Alvarez a new contract.

The Argentine striker’s current deal expires in the summer of 2027.

However, it is testament to the impact Julian Alvarez has already had in a Man City shirt that the club aim to extend his contract.

And that too, after starting playing for the Sky Blues this season, after initially signing in January last year.

For those that have not witnessed just how accomplished Alvarez has already looked at the Etihad Stadium, we discussed what made him a bargain buy after his masterful showing against Croatia at the World Cup.

At £14.1 million (BBC Sport), the 22-year-old already looks like the real deal, blessed with a ruthless eye for goal, neat footwork, excellent link-up play and impressive playmaking ability.

Despite playing sporadically this season, the £50,000-a-week forward already has 7 goals in all competitions.

Keeping that in mind, it does not come as a surprise that Man City are eager to hand the phenom a brand-new contract.

Signed at such a young age from River Plate, the Argentine was always a coup for both the present and the future.

Now, journalist Veronica Brunati has revealed that Man City plan to initiate new contract talks with Julian Alvarez.

The decision is reportedly not influenced by the talented No.9’s eye-catching displays at the World Cup on Argentina’s road to winning the tournament.

It has been mentioned that the club had decided even before the competition that the plan in place was to offer him a contract extension.

Furthermore, the contract talks are set to begin in the ‘coming weeks.’

This is incredible news for every Man City fan, as tying as talented a player as the highly-rated goalscorer to a new contract, despite his current deal already set to expire in 2027 would be a masterstroke of a call.
