Man City are actually long-time admirers of £169m-rated Arsenal star, Phil Foden says he’s ‘quality’

It has been reported that Manchester City have been interested in signing one Arsenal player for years.

It seems unlikely that Mikel Arteta’s side would be willing to sell one of his key assets to City — despite having signed the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from the Etihad Stadium in recent years.

Arsenal have lost two back-to-back Premier League titles to Pep Guardiola’s men — despite their recruitment being consistently brilliant and shifting to a more pragmatic system last season — where they shipped the joint-least league goals alongside the Sky Blues (28) in the 2023/2024 campaign.

Next season, it seems likely that the title will either head in Manchester City or Arsenal’s direction — having been the league’s best two teams over the past two campaigns.

Report reveals Man City eyeing audacious Bukayo Saka swoop

A report by CaughtOffside has described Manchester City as “long-term admirer” of Bukayo Saka, with an emphasis also placed on clubs like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, who could potentially make a move for him in the future.

However, Arsenal value the 22-year-old at €200 million (£169.4 million) — who extended his contract until 2027 at the Emirates Stadium in October last year.

The report claims that Saka’s priority has always been to remain at his boyhood club.

Furthermore, Arsenal plan to hold talks with the Englishman — Phil Foden described as a “quality player” while speaking to BBC Sport — after Euro 2024 to extend his deal until 2030.

Bukayo Saka would be a brilliant but unrealistic signing for Man City

Most clubs in the world, like Manchester City would be hoping to have a crack at signing Saka one day.

The Ealing-born forward is one of the best right-wingers in the game — alongside the likes of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.

Since breaking through into the Arsenal first-team in 2018, Saka has been one of his club and country’s most consistent performers — as exemplified by his virtuosic display for England in their latest victory against Switzerland on penalties.

However, it is nigh-on impossible to imagine the Gunners letting their talismanic attacker leave at any price — considering he is arguably their best player and a symbol of the club — having come through their famed Hale End academy.

If there is a possibility that Saka is ready to leave Arsenal one day, Manchester City should be all over a potential swoop but even if that was the case, him joining a rival Premier League club seems highly unrealistic.
