A report has emerged that indicates that Manchester City are prepared to sign an English player.
While England have perhaps struggled to live up to the billing in terms of the free-flowing brand of football many expected them to play, the talent in their squad remains outstanding.
The fact that the Three Lions left out names like Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Jarrad Branthwaite from their Euro 2024 squad shows how much quality they possess.
So far, Gareth Southgate’s decisions have proven to be fool-proof as his side are in the semi-finals of the European Championship.
Attackers like Cole Palmer, Eberechi Eze, Anthony Gordon and Jarrod Bowen are yet to start a game for England at the tournament.

Report shares how Man City feel about Eberechi Eze transfer
Eze, for instance, has come on as a substitute in their games against Denmark, Slovakia and Switzerland — playing as a left wing-back.
For context, the Crystal Palace talisman scored 11 goals and assisted four in 24 Premier League starts last season.
Yet, the standard of England’s attack is so high that the 26-year-old has been utilised as a mere utility man off the bench.
The Sun have reported that alongside Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City are ready to sign Eze by triggering the £60 million release clause in his contract.
In November last year, the Englishman signed a contract extension until 2027 at Selhurst Park.
Man City do not need to sign a player like Eberechi Eze
While Eze is a terrific player, the question is whether Manchester City even need a player like him in their roster.
In the number 10 position, the silky technician is yet to display that he is as proficient in his natural position as Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden.
A solution that could be proposed is to utilise Eze as a left-winger.
However, much like Grealish, the Greenwich-born attacker looks much more comfortable when allowed to drift into central areas from the wing.
Pep Guardiola, however, seems like to like his wingers to hold the width in his teams — whether they are natural wide players like Jeremy Doku or makeshift options like Foden.
As a result, a move for Eze to the Etihad Stadium seems like a potentially needless transfer priority.
