Manchester City could be getting their hands on another version of Bernardo Silva this summer.

Having been linked with a move away from the Manchester club earlier in the current summer transfer window, it’s now looking likely that the 29-year-old will be staying at the Etihad Stadium and even sign a new deal that has reportedly been offered to him.

Despite that, the Citizens could be on their way to bring in a new player that we feel would act as another version of Silva.

After seeing a verbal offer of £70m turned down by West Ham United for Lucas Paqueta, it has since been reported that the treble winners are looking to make a fresh offer for the Brazilian.

The 25-year-old joined West Ham last summer in a club record deal worth £51m and then went on to score five goals and deliver seven assists in 39 appearances across the Premier League and the Europa Conference League.

It was the Brazilian’s efforts in the Premier League last season that showed how he could be seen as another Silva.

For example, both players scored four goals each in the league and racked up a similar amount of passes into the penalty area, with Paqueta having 33 and Silva having 35.

In addition to that, the Hammers star ended the season with a slightly higher rate of goal-creating actions per 90 minutes (0.51 vs 0.49) than the Portuguese international, which further highlights how similar the duo are in terms of their creativity and attacking presence.

During his time at Lyon, the midfielder was hailed by Rudi Garcia for the “excellent” relationship he had on the pitch with Memphis Depay, which makes us feel that Paqueta could form a strong relationship with Silva if he ends up joining the Manchester club in the coming weeks.
