Manchester City could have the opportunity to get rid of Kalvin Phillips by securing a potential transfer deal for Joshua Kimmich.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Phillips is one of the midfield targets on Bayern Munich’s transfer list for the upcoming January window.
This, we feel, could possibly allow the Manchester club to work out a potential transfer deal for one player they have previously been linked with at the German club – Kimmich.
City could ditch Phillips and sign Kimmich

Focusing on Phillips, the fact that he has only started five of the 26 games he’s appeared in for City shows that he has failed to get anywhere near the top of Pep Guardiola’s pecking order.
Therefore, it’s easy to see why he has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium and why the club could well be open to selling him should Bayern make an approach for him in January.
If this ends up being the case, it would make sense for the Citizens to try and land a deal for Kimmich, who Guardiola has previously described as an “outstanding” player.

With 358 appearances for Bayern under his belt, 36 of those came under Guardiola’s management.
Bearing in mind how the 28-year-old has made more key passes (22) and progressive passes (72) than any other Bayern player in the Bundesliga this season and has the highest combined total of tackles and interceptions (23) at the club, this showcases just how important he is for them and why the club may not be too keen to let him go anytime soon.
However, we feel that with this sort of quality, it would be smart for City to at least attempt to negotiate a deal for Kimmich, whether it involves Phillips going the other way or not.
