Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Schalke midfielder Assan Ouedraogo.

The Citizens have a track record when it comes to signing players from German sides during Pep Guardiola’s time in charge of the club such as Josko Gvardiol, Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan.

Now though, the Manchester club have their eyes on another player currently making a name for himself in the Bundesliga.

According to a recent report from 90 Min, City are one of the Premier League clubs, including the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle United among others, that have an interest in Ouedraogo.

The report also adds that other clubs across Europe such as Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Marseille have their eyes on the Schalke youngster.

After making 36 appearances for Schalke’s youth sides, during which he scored 16 goals and delivered 14 assists, the 17-year-old has gone on to make eight senior appearances for the club, chipping in with one goal.

Described as an “exciting” player by talent scout Jacek Kulig, who has also dubbed Ouedraogo as being “Schalke’s most talented academy player” since Sane, this should resonate with a lot of City fans seeing as the Bayern Munich winger scored 39 goals and delivered 46 assists in 135 games during his time at the club.

With all of that in mind, if the teenager goes on to have a successful season at Schalke, City should definitely look to make a move for him once the next summer transfer window opens for business.
