Man City eyeing transfer move for ‘powerful’ 22-year-old machine linked with Juventus

Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram.

The previous summer transfer window saw the Citizens refresh their midfield by bringing in Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes, in addition to seeing Ilkay Gundogan wave goodbye to the club after seven years.

Now though, the Manchester club have set their sights on potentially adding another midfield figure to their ranks, but may have to challenge one of Europe’s big clubs to do so.

According to a recent report from TV Play, City are eyeing a transfer move for Thuram, who has also attracted interest from Juventus.

The Frenchman joined Nice back in the 2019 summer transfer window on a free transfer from AS Monaco.

Since then, the 22-year-old has made 149 appearances for Nice prior to this weekend’s league match against Nantes, scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists in the process.

With 11 Ligue 1 appearances to his name this season, Thuram has managed to show how much of a useful attacking figure he can be from the middle of the park.

For example, in addition to having the highest number of shot-creating actions (35) in the Nice squad, he also has the second-highest number of carries into the final third of the pitch (31) and key passes (14) at the club.

Back in February, former Nice midfielder, Aaron Ramsey described Thuram as a “very dangerous, very powerful [and] a very strong dribbler,” which shows just what the Frenchman could be able to offer Pep Guardiola’s side.

With all of that in mind, if Guardiola and the recruitment staff at City feel that the Nice star would be a strong addition to their squad, we feel that they should do all they can to beat Juventus, or whoever else may be interested in signing him, and land his signature.
