Rayan Cherki was sidelined through injury for Manchester City’s 2-1 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Cherki has suffered a thigh injury that meant he was ruled out of the contest.

However, to make matters worse for Manchester City after their latest loss, Pep Guardiola confirmed that the Frenchman’s injury could keep him out of action for two months.

Unsurprisingly, City fans are devastated about the news surrounding Rayan Cherki.

Man City fans devastated as Rayan Cherki injury rules him out for two months

One Manchester City fan simply reacted to Cherki’s latest setback by sarcastically writing: “Brilliant. Never been injured. Comes to City, play one and a half games is is out for two months.”

Another Sky Blues supporter believes the 22-year-old’s injury could severely impact his side’s campaign as he succinctly wrote: “That’s it, season over.”

A third Manchester City fan echoed a similar sentiment about Cherki’s injury, writing: “Yeah, it’s over, bring on [the] 2027 [2026/2027 season].”

Another City fan claimed that the former Lyon playmaker’s absence means their creativity will suffer: “That’s us done. Zero creativity in the team without him.”

A fifth fan urged Phil Foden to step up now, stating: “Foden should come out stronger now because we are messed up.”

Finally, a sixth fan also hoped Foden to stay fit and firing after Cherki’s injury, writing: “Phil Foden, we need you to find some fitness and form, lad.”

The silky midfielder’s injury record has generally been excellent, which makes his latest setback all the more surprising.

Rayan Cherki’s injury history

At Lyon, Cherki’s last severe injury occurred during the 2021/2022 season where he missed 21 games and as a result, Manchester City fans may even be more frustrated.

While during the 2023/2024 campaign, Cherki was sidelined for just one game.

It seems like fortune simply is not favouring Pep Guardiola’s side currently but the good news for them is that both Foden and Oscar Bobb can play behind Erling Haaland.

However, there is no disputing that Cherki’s injury is a huge blow for City.
