Man City fans are all saying the same thing about Savinho being open to Tottenham move, talks already held

When Manchester City signed Savinho in the summer of 2024, it seemed like their vision was that the Brazilian would become a superstar in the future.

In his debut season, the Brazilian impressed at the Etihad Stadium — registering three goals and 13 assists last season.

However, just a season after showing signs of promise at Manchester City, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Savinho is open to a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham have opened talks to sign the 21-year-old with City, with Thomas Frank fancying the player but upon coming across the news, Sky Blues fans believe selling him would be a regrettable mistake.

One Manchester City fan claimed that Savinho has the potential of becoming a top-class winger and letting him leave after a season to sign for Tottenham would be a nonsensical decision: “Very much aware Savinho isn’t the finished product but he’s very obviously highly talented. We forget [Riyad] Mahrez was knocking about in the lower tiers of French football at the same age when making the comparisons. Savinho will become a cracking player. I don’t think we should be in the business of moving on talent like that.”

A second City supporter claimed that the youngster showed signs of promise during his debut season and letting him join Spurs would be a mistake: “He didn’t have the best first season but most wingers don’t under Pep [Guardiola], at times he looked very good even in a very dysfunctional City team, would be a massive mistake letting him go.”

Considering Manchester City have an excess of non-homegrown players in their squad, one fan claimed that selling Savinho to Tottenham was not the outgoing he was hoping for, writing: “This was not the non-homegrown sale I was after. Would be very upset if we sold Savio.”

Another City supporter claimed that unless Pep Guardiola and Co have a superstar lined up to replace the former Troyes wideman on the wing or in another position, a sale would be a horrific call: “There’s only two reasons we should sell Savinho, them being, one, we have a superstar attacker lined up (most unlikely thing ever), two, he funds a move for a superstar in another position (most unlikely thing ever). Horror decision otherwise.”

Another fan believes that if the Sky Blues let the highly-rated technician leave, it sums up their disappointing transfer strategy in recent years: “[Oscar] Bobb is better than Savinho and [Phil] Foden probably plays off the right this season but I don’t see the vision selling him. And it’s damning on the recruitment. Just shows they had no clear idea what they were doing prior to this window.”

Finally, a sixth Manchester City fan believes that Savinho is not the winger that the club should be looking to offload despite Tottenham being willing to sign him as he is a brilliant young prospect: “I really like Savinho, he can be frustrating at times, but there’s definitely a player there and his potential is huge. He’s also a top creator, so it would be a shame to see him go. If we truly have to sell a winger, I don’t think he should be the one.”

It is hard to disagree that the Manchester City number 26’s potential move to North London would be a surprising one.

How much Man City could sell Savinho to Tottenham for

As recently as in June, Pep Guardiola claimed Savinho has “incredible potential” and considering Manchester City are entertaining talks to sell him to Tottenham now is unsurprisingly puzzling fans.

Fabrizio Romano revealed that he feels that a deal could be possible for around £70 million.

“Also, to give you my feeling, I think this deal for something around £70 million could be a possibility.”

Considering Manchester City signed Savinho for £21 million, they could triple their profit from his potential move to Tottenham if the deal goes through.
