Major changes have occurred at Manchester City over the summer.
The 2024/25 campaign was a very disappointing one for Pep Guardiola and his group of players, and in order to avoid a repeat of that over the next 12 months, Man City added Tijjani Reijnders to their squad, in addition to Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Marcus Bettinelli.
Changes also occurred off the pitch, as Pepijn Linders and James French were added to Guardiola’s coaching staff, to bring fresh ideas to the Etihad Stadium.
Kolo Toure was also appointed as a first-team assistant coach for the FIFA Club World Cup this summer, and it has now been confirmed that the 44-year-old will remain in the position on a full-time basis.

Kolo Toure joins Man City’s coaching staff
Having enjoyed success with Man City’s Under-18s last season, the Premier League outfit have confirmed on Tuesday that Toure will be part of Guardiola’s coaching staff for the upcoming campaign.
The Manchester club’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, is excited by the appointment, praising Toure via mancity.com by saying: “We’re delighted to permanently add Kolo to our first team coaching staff…
“We’ve also been hugely impressed with his work and success with our Under-18s, and by adding him into our senior staff permanently, this will only strengthen the transition for players in our Academy into the first team.
“As we already saw throughout his time with Pep Guardiola, Pep Lijnders and James French this summer, his massive personality of optimism and positivity is hugely infectious and we’re already looking forward to his work moving forward.”
Toure joins Man City’s coaching staff having previously worked as part of Brendan Rodgers’ coaching team at both Celtic and Leicester City, before taking up a head coach position at Wigan Athletic.
Guardiola was clearly impressed by the work the former defender did in the United States this summer, and fans of the Manchester club have been reacting to this latest news coming out of the Etihad Stadium.
Man City fans excited by Kolo Toure’s promotion
Following Man City’s announcement that Toure will become part of Guardiola’s coaching staff for the 25/26 campaign, fans of the Manchester club have been expressing their excitement about the return of the Ivorian to the senior set-up at the Etihad.
One Man City fan reacted to the news on X (formerly known as Twitter) by saying: “Nice to see Kolo Toure going back to work with his former club. Wishing him all the best.”
Another City supporter wrote: “That’s awesome! Kolo brings great energy and experience. Excited to see what he’ll add to the team!”
A final Man City fan added: “Absolutely lovely news. I’m so happy we have done this.”
It remains to be seen how these coaching changes will impact Man City over the coming 12 months, but after seeing some signs during the FIFA Club World Cup, they look like positive moves on the Manchester club’s part.
