Manchester City fans would have been over the moon for a number of reasons about their 3-1 victory against Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup.

Witnessing an academy graduate like Nico O’Reilly — who Pep Guardiola praised against Plymouth score a brace would have been a sight for sore eyes at the Etihad Stadium.

Furthermore, Manchester City supporters would also have been delighted about seeing Kevin De Bruyne score a goal and provide an assist — looking in much better nick than he has recently.

City’s win against Plymouth booked their place in the quarter-finals and took them a step closer to winning a trophy this season — which is a real positive for the club considering how much they have struggled this campaign.

Man City fans excited seeing Rodri with the ball before Plymouth clash

One Manchester City fan commented on witnessing Rodri doing kick-ups before his side’s win against Plymouth by simply writing: His return is loading”, followed by a ‘blue-colored heart emoji.’

Another Manchester City fan rejoiced at seeing Rodri back on the pitch before their contest against Plymouth as he wrote: “Ah, someone hold me!”

A third fan added: “Back in time for the run in”, followed by a few emojis signifying his happiness as they assumed the Spaniard could play a part for the team this season.

However, other Manchester City fans urged Rodri not to be played before next season.

One fan said: “As much as I want to see him play, he should play next season. Trust Pep [Guardiola] anyway. Going for all trophies next season.”

Finally, a fifth fan added: “He shouldn’t play this season, don’t take any stupid risks please.”

When Rodri said he could return from injury for Manchester City

Rodri revealed he could play this season but it seemed like the Ballon d’Or winner suggested that the FIFA Club World Cup is when he could be back on the pitch from his ACL injury.

The midfield maestro said in November: “I have in mind to play this season.”

“Now, the seasons are getting longer and the [FIFA Club] World Cup ends on July 13, I have in mind to return this year, as a challenge.”

“Gavi [who also suffered an ACL injury] used to say: ‘I need to play football’. At my age, you see it differently, you have time to rest and recover well.”

Manchester City fans will be awaiting Rodri’s return, having witnessing their star man already back on the training pitch recently.
