Manchester City got their form back on track tonight following a dismal run of results in November.

Specifically, City picked up their first victory since October by beating Nottingham Forest 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Bernardo Silva opened the scoring by bagging his first league goal of the campaign. Kevin De Bruyne then doubled the home side’s lead to put Pep Guardiola’s side 2-0 up by halftime.

The second half saw Jeremy Doku add a third for the champions, who managed to see out the game with a clean sheet and three points in the bag.

During the game, a vast number of City supporters took to social media to share how impressed they were with one particular figure in the team.

Man City fans buzz over Jack Grealish’s midfield performance vs Forest

One X user wrote: “Grealish in this no. 10 is quite good.”

Another added how delighted they were with Guardiola’s decision to deploy the Englishman in a central role, saying: “Grealish in the middle will surely hold the pressure for Man City, nice one Pep.”

Other City supporters pointed out that “Grealish looks so much better centrally,” while one said that “Grealish looks so comfortable in midfield.”

Finally, another fan claimed that this particular tactical move is something that City should look to make the most of going forward, saying that “Grealish in midfield is the way.”

Guardiola’s Grealish gamble paid off

After losing to Liverpool at the weekend, Guardiola hinted at using Grealish in midfield, saying this on the matter.

He said: “Jack in the middle, I am thinking can help us to have that control, that vision to the final third.”

Now that the £300k-a-week Englishman showed how impressive he can be when playing in a central role rather than his usual left-wing position, it’s safe to say this tactical switch from Guardiola paid off.

Moving forward, it’ll be worth keeping an eye on to see if Guardiola continues to play Grealish in midfield throughout City’s upcoming period of key fixtures.
