One of the many reasons why Manchester City fans would have been excited about the signing of Rayan Cherki is because he is a showman.

The fact that Cherki stunned Thierry Henry with his dribbling goes to show how technically gifted the City new-boy is.

Several Lyon fans described Cherki as a “maestro” as he has garnered the reputation of being a genius with the ball with his feet.

In his first training session as a Manchester City player, the 21-year-old took the most sumptuous first touch, leaving the Sky Blues supporters over the moon about their latest addition.

Man City fans rave about Rayan Cherki after training footage emerges

One Manchester City fan compared Rayan Cherki’s delightful piece of skill in training to that of Riyad Mahrez, who is known for his extraordinary first touch: “City have signed the ultimate Mahrez regen.”

A second supporter likened the Algerian to not just Mahrez and Phil Foden, whose touch is sublime as well: “Looks like a combination of Mahrez and Phil.”

A third Manchester City fan admitted she would like the FIFA Club World Cup to start as quickly as possible after watching Cherki dazzle: “Oh, Christ, I need our CWC game to start tomorrow.”

Jack Grealish lauded Mahrez’s first touch as the best he has ever seen and a fifth City fan reacted to the youngster’s moment of magic by writing: “Riyad is back.”

Grealish is set to leave Manchester City and a fan suggested the club to hand the former Lyon midfielder his number 10 shirt: “Hand him that number 10 jersey!”

Finally, a sixth Manchester City fan claimed that the signing of Cherki as well as Rayan Ait-Nouri and Tijjani Reijnders are much superior to the Liverpool-bound Florian Wirtz, stating: “We’ve signed a certified baller honestly. I pick him plus Tijjani plus Ait-Nouri any day over Wirtz. Man City is the best run club in the world.”

Clearly, the Etihad Stadium will embrace the highly-rated technician with open arms as he has generated a rare buzz within the fanbase.

Rayan Cherki says he wants to entertain Manchester City fans

Cherki revealed he likes to entertain fans, something he considers “important”, which would be music to Manchester City fans’ ears.

“My style is easy. I love to play with the ball, do skills and help teammates. I am here to make people happy and this is very important to me.”

“I prefer to play number 10 but right now I just want to play. Where I am is not important, I just want to be on the pitch and help the team win. I am ready.”

City fans have every reason to be rubbing their hands at watching Cherki in action as simply put, he is a truly mercurial talent.
