There must have been a split in opinions amongst the Manchester City fanbase after their side’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.
One school of thought would simply have agreed with Bernardo Silva’s view after the draw that City simply have not been at the required standard in recent weeks.
Others might feel that Pep Guardiola’s men did well to earn a point, considering they were 2-1 down and due to Rico Lewis eventually being sent off.
Bernardo Silva thanked Manchester City fans for backing the team despite them winning just one game in their last nine matches; uncommon for the club during Guardiola’s reign.

Manchester City supporters did not have much to be positive about from their latest result.
It seems like all the Sky Blues can do once again is to bounce back from yet another setback.

Man City fans claim Ruben Dias is still underrated
One player who stood out for Manchester City on Saturday was Ruben Dias.
The £65 million man played a crucial role in keeping City in the game as Palace created several chances during the contest.
Despite Manchester City dropping points to Crystal Palace, the club’s fanbase expressed their collective belief on X that the revered defender is underrated.
One City fan wrote: “It’s a shame Ruben Dias will retire highly underrated.”
A second Manchester City supporter wrote: “Ruben Dias doesn’t get enough appreciation…singlehandedly helping us not going 3-0 down.”
A third Manchester City fan wrote: “Ruben Dias is so underrated, our best defender by a mile.”
Another Sky Blues fan claimed: “Singlehandedly stopped City getting a thumping today. He’s one of the leagues most underrated centre-backs. We have to build a new defensive unit around this guy.”
A sixth City fan stated: “Dias is still underrated in my books.”
Dias stats for Man City vs Crystal Palace
The former Benfica defender certainly put in a performance that merits all such praise.
Nathan Ake praised Dias once while describing his displays as “outstanding” in a City shirt and his statistics from his side’s draw against Crystal Palace prove the Dutchman right.
| DIAS STATS VS CRYSTAL PALACE | |
| BLOCKED SHOTS | 4 |
| CLEARANCES | 3 |
| DRIBBLED PAST | 0 |
| ACCURATE PASSES | 110/116 (95%) |
| INTERCEPTIONS | 1 |
The numbers indicate that Dias was excellent and on several instances, he especially saved Manchester City’s blushes by making a series of remarkable blocks and last-ditch challenges.
On another day, Crystal Palace would have demolished Manchester City.
However, Dias showcased against Palace once again why there are not many centre-backs as brilliant as he is when tasked to defend inside the box.
