Manchester City are reportedly pressing Bernardo Silva to make a final decision about his future ahead of their upcoming season.

The midfielder, who the Blues signed for £43m back in 2017, has been linked with a move away from the Manchester club in recent weeks having attracted interest from the likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Al-Hilal.

With the 28-year-old now in the midst of City’s pre-season tour of Asia, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding the situation surrounding Silva’s future.

In a recent report from the Daily Mirror, City are now pressing Silva for an answer about his future after having offered him a two-year extension on his current contract, as well as a hefty pay-rise that would take his earnings to £300,000-a-week.

The report also adds that the club are so eager to keep hold of the Portuguese international, they have put a £70m price tag on him to ward off other clubs from making a move for him.

In addition to this lucrative contract extension offer, the fact that Pep Guardiola has previously described the midfielder as one of the best players he has ever coached, this highlights how valued he is by the City manager.

Also, having featured in all but six of the Citizens’ matches across all competitions last season, as well as completing the full 90 minutes of the FA Cup final and each of City’s Champions League games after the group stage of the competition, this further showcases how significant he is for the team.

Moving forward, if Silva decides to sign an extension in the near future and puts to bed any possibility of him leaving the treble winners this summer, this would undoubtedly be a massive boost for the club leading up to their upcoming campaign.
