Manchester City have broken yet another record in their performance against FC Copenhagen.
Manchester City returned to Champions League action on Wednesday night as they cruised into the quarter-finals of the competition.
Pep Guardiola’s side already held a 3-1 aggregate lead after the first leg in Denmark three weeks ago and won 3-1 in the return fixture, going through 6-2 on aggregate.
City had the tie sewn up within 10 minutes as Manuel Akanji opened the scoring before Julian Alvarez doubled the lead shortly afterwards.
Mohamed Elyounoussi did pull one back for Copenhagen but Erling Haaland struck to make it 3-1 and secure the win for the second match running after his goal in the Manchester derby.
The comfortable victory hasn’t only sealed City’s place in the next round of Europe’s premier tournament, but it has seen them reach a remarkable milestone as well.

Man City break another record
Haaland’s fantastic finish was the record-breaking strike, as it meant City had scored three or more goals in their last nine consecutive home matches in the Champions League.
According to OptaJoe, City are the first and only team to ever achieve such a feat in major Europea competition history.
A great warm-up for Liverpool
City’s match with Copenhagen could not have gone more to plan for Guardiola. Other than Matheus Nunes suffering a hand injury towards the end of the match.
But otherwise, it was a perfect night. City’s quick-fire start ensured the tie was over as a contested early on and City were able to take it easy.
Copenhagen did have a bright spell towards the end of the first half but Haaland’s strike ended their fledging hopes.
That allowed the manager to take Rodri off at the break and City were able to take it easy in a lull of a second half.
With Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Kyle Walker all rested, it couldn’t have been a better warm-up for Sunday’s crucial match with Liverpool in the Premier League title race.
